The sea is calm, currents move gently underwater. We are in the Hawaiian tropical zone and it is a beautiful clear day. So is the water, unltra-clear. There are shimmering bodies darting about and as we go underwater to see who they are, they are Pacific Bottle-Nosed Dolphins. A whole herd moving northwest toward a rich fishing zone. Their bodies gleam in the sun and they are talking fast, echo-locating, while playing with each other as they move closer to the fishing zone. The sounds of the dolphins inspired the composer to find equivalent notes on the piano.
